Welcome

Restoration, transformation.

As members of the Body of Christ, we cannot afford to be ignorant to the difficulties and challenges that people go through in life, including trauma. If you research the history of mental illness and disability, for a long time before there was ever such a thing as “social services”, church / clergy were the frontline workers of community and social services. If families had family members they could not care for at home, it was the church who was called on to house and care for people. If families needed food or shelter, the church was who they turned to. Things eventually evolved, government and state programs were developed and the separation between “church and state” became legal and gradual through Supreme Court decisions beginning in the 20th century. Tomas Jefferson was known for the famous phrase, “wall of separation between church and state”. A few more fun facts: In 1962: Engel v. Vitale ruled that state-sponsored prayer in public schools is unconstitutional, in 1971: Lemon v. Kurtzman established the “Lemon Test” to determine if a law violates the separation of church and state, requiring that government actions have a secular purpose and avoid “excessive entanglement” with religion. The list goes on.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

I firmly believe it is the responsibility of believers (the church) to understand the times that we are living in and the climate of the present culture. We are living in a culture that for the most part has not been taught about the healing and transforming power the love of God has or that He even exists. We are living in a culture where people are taught there are “many paths to God” although the bible clearly tells us there is only one way to the Father and that is through faith in Jesus Christ. Most people are daily exposed to trauma via the internet and social media, we are flooded with information and no resolutions. We have become desensitized, disrespectful, unbelieving, selfish and hopeless. Most people move through this life bleeding their unhealed wounds on other people. We are living in a culture where the basics of life, love, family are not being passed down or taught but instead we are passing down generational trauma and dysfunctional behavior patterns. Sadly, we are also living in a culture that does not trust the church or people who call themselves “Christians” and who can blame them when we see a church on every block in some neighborhoods and absolutely no positive impact in their neighborhood, salaried Pastors driving expensive cars and thanks to social media, we have “churches” that are more interested in their buildings and social media likes than actually building up human beings. As the body of Christ, we must collectively do better.

I have had the honor and privilege to train people how to care for other people (especially those who are considered part of a vulnerable population) and assist them with steering their lives on track so that they can enter the workforce and become self-sufficient for more than 17 years. Through the work and education I have done secularly, God has equipped me with an ability to translate secular information that pertains to helping others in a professional capacity into practical teachings and trainings for the body of Christ. It’s been said that “hurting people hurt other people”. It has also been said that “healed people heal other people”. I believe that God wants us (the body of Christ) to be fully healed so that we can help others fully heal. Healing isn’t just about emotions and feelings, some of us also need healing in the area of family, basic life skills or financial responsibility.

Over the upcoming months, I will be sharing resources that can be used for ministry training via this platform on various topics to assist you and equip you so that you in turn can assist and equip others. As God has freely given it to me, I will be freely giving it away. If the Lord leads you, tips are greatly appreciated but certainly not required. Teach people how to pray

In my honest opinion, I think more ministries should teach their congregation (especially new converts) the basics of how to pray and the different types of prayer. Far too often, congregations are told to pray, the importance of prayer but there is never much teaching or training on how to pray. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?…

Resources every ministry should have

It would be amazing if every ministry that proclaimed the name of Christ was able to be a self sustaining beacon of light and resources for their communities. Wouldn’t it be a glorious sight to see if people were once again able to get all the help they need from their local church? Not every…

The Suicide Question

There is one question regarding suicide that I witnessed coming up during outreach ministry and was it always answered the same way. My experiences with this actually happened prior to beginning my career in human services so at the time, I had no prior training or information on the subject matter. Every minister I personally…
